Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT
The Cohasset Basketball Boosters Club is a volunteer non profit organization that manages the youth and travel basketball programs. In addition, the CBBC supports the JV and Varsity programs at Cohasset Middle High School.

It is the mission of the CBBC to provide an environment of safety, emotional and physical development, commitment, hard work and fun for all of its participants. We will strive to accomplish this through the effort and cooperation of the CBBC members, the coaches, the volunteers, the parents and the players.

Code of Conduct & Expectations
In order to achieve our mission, the Administrators, Coaches, Players, and Parents all have responsibilities. Failure to comply will weaken the abilityto have a successful program and provide the best experience for the participants.

CBBC members
CBBC members are volunteers who act as guardians of the program for past, present and future successes. In representing the program they are expected to fulfill the mission by;

  1. Ensuring every decision is for the incremental benefit of the participants.
  2. Ensuring proper coaching, equipment and facilities are made available.
  3. Managing the financial resources of the organization.
  4. Fostering and providing methods of communication to ensure that participants are fully aware of all expectations.

Coaches
Coaches are teachers, mentors, advisors, protectors and role models for the players in the program. In representing the program we expect them to fulfill the mission by;

  1. Continuing to improve their knowledge and technique in basketball.
  2. Provide a well planned and safe environment for practices and games.
  3. Understand the enormous responsibility that comes with coaching in that they are not only are they teachers of the game, they are mentors and guides in building character and sportsmanship, traits that extend beyond the     playing surface.
  4. By age group, the coach must understand that while his/her team has standards of behavior & discipline, no two children are alike.  Each child is an individual with varying degrees of emotional and physical development and that factor must be taken into account.

Players
Players have responsibilities. They are the reason the organization    exists. Older players are role models for the younger players in the organization and are pivotal to the future interest and success  of the total program. In order to fulfill their part in the mission of the program we expect them to;

  1. Barring injury, make a season long commitment to their teammates and their coaches.
  2. Arrive to practice and games on time, with a positive and winning attitude.
  3. Show proper respect to coaches, spectators and officials.
  4. Represent Cohasset with dignity.
  5. Play with enthusiasm and dedication and effort.
  6. Be respectful of the facilities, home and away, keeping the area clean.
  7. Team leaders and captains are role models and should behave as such.

Parents
Parents are vital to the success of the mission. In participating in the  programs, we expect them to;

  1. Ensure players attendance and prompt arrival at games and practices.
  2. Pick up players promptly after games and practices.
  3. Remain a respectful distance from players and coaches during games.
  4. Not criticize coaches in front of players.
  5. Be respectful of officials.
  6. Understand constructive criticism is most effective if well timed and in private. Resolve conflicts privately with coaches and enlist the support of the CBBC if necessary.
